When you drop by into any of our rehab facilities, what you will notice right away is the warm atmosphere filled with so much optimism, faith and compassion.
Unfortunately, a large number of the people we work with only know how to act in a way that looks after their main focus; to avoid the negative feelings and thoughts and escape the reality they are constantly experiencing and re-enforcing.
Many people addicted to drugs and alcohol live in a world that doesn't follow the normal rules and societal 'standards'. In many cases they are very poor with boundaries and can behave immorally and do things they already know are unacceptable or wrong.
Unfortunately these behaviours become 'learned' as they go through life; for instance, you may have experienced someone lying so often that they actually satisfy themselves that what they are saying is true. Our clients also only understand how to behave in dysfunctional relationships; they are out of the ability to truly love and the guilt and shame they experience mean they are unable to find the courage to ask for help or to say sorry. Their uncontrollable, egoistic chase for substances leaves them without time or desire to worry about others since they are also not able to worry about themselves.
What we are attempting to do at Drug Rehab Rutland is to alter all these. With our detox therapy, we accomplish the first step on the list, which is getting rid of drugs or alcohol.
Drug Rehab Rutland offers withdrawal that is medically supervised by a doctor and followed through by one of our certified nurses.
As soon as the individual's body is free from the drug we can begin to focus on the spirit and mind by employing our day-care, primary and secondary rehabilitation programmes.
Our facilities are a safe and discrete environment where the individual can examine themselves by looking into their emotions and thoughts, what they are looking to become and who they truly are. In addition, we make available a space with boundaries and regulations that keeps them under control and offer them a sense of being organized. Simple rules such as being in the group on time, show our clients that the world is a place with standards which are there for fairness and to keep people secure. We give our clients optimism - we show them that they too can get better when they see that our Counsellor used to be addicted, but is now 13 years sober and free.
We start to empower people throughout the treatment process to build positive relationships. The primary thing we make sure is to establish a family-like atmosphere in which clients begin to establish relationship with other individuals who are also seeking treatment, having mutual feeling of being able to fit in, restoring confidence in their respective families by way of consistent interactions with them. Then we equip people to alter their thoughts, learn to live with their feelings and consequently adapt their conduct. A very straightforward and pragmatic set of tools, a 12-step program, is taught and it has so far helped, for almost a century, addicts to become free and sober.
We challenge individuals when they are unable to acknowledge what they need to although we also let them commit blunders and gain some insights from these. We also empower our clients to obtain a new set of positive 'learned' behaviours via the intense structure of the programme and the quasi-residential living model; by having some responsibility to manage money, by being in the community and living in shared accommodation, do a weekly shop, cook for themselves and live in the community, We teach our clients every single day how to 'live' in the real world without needing a substance to get them through.
Each day spent for treatment serves as a stepping stone towards long lasting achievement.
It is also our goal to support our clients' loved ones.
This is really key as after the treatment has been completed these people will have to stay with our clients, therefore at Drug Rehab Rutland, members of the family get a chance to interact with other people who've faced identical experiences and familiarise themselves with how to provide support to the client after the treatment has ended.
This all takes place over the course of 2 to 24 weeks. Most people come to Drug Rehab Rutland with a long history of active addiction and a past filled with miserable years behind them. The more time people can have adopting this new lifestyle, the better the long-term outcome because it can take a long time to 'un-weave' the chaos of someone's life in addiction. We also provide relocation and rehousing services through Drug Rehab Rutland Housing for those looking to get a completely fresh beginning in a new place with new communities and a real chance.
Regardless of the time you will be with us, our objective is to empower you so that you have a strong foundation for a fresh start and life in recovery.
